This year Team G team members were given the opportunity to select a non-profit that they wanted a donation to be made to from Garabedian Properties. The three non-profit organizations selected were: Cook Children’s Hospital, Mark Rogers Endowment with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Abilene, and Interfaith Family Services.
Here is a bit about the organizations we were honored to donate to this year –
- Mark Rogers Endowment With Big Brothers Big Sisters of Abilene. Since 1904, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is incredible potential. As the nation’s largest donor- and volunteer-supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 5 through young adulthood in communities across the country. They develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.
- Interfaith Family Services empowers families in crisis to break the cycle of poverty. For families facing homelessness, they provide transitional housing in one of their 23 fully-furnished apartments that they own debt-free. They assist parents with increasing their earning potential though counseling to boast self-confidence, career assessments to help them identify the best career path, and career training to increase skills. Simultaneously, children are stabilized through their structured and nurturing Childcare Center and their Hope & Horizons Children & Teens Program.
