One of the newest design elements we have seen over the past few years are the large glass garage doors and large windows in garages. These are popular as they give homes a more modern and accented elevation while allowing natural light into the garage.
However there is a word of caution which should be heeded. When your garage is visible to folks who passby, visitors or drivebys you are telegraphing information which may not be best to share.
Unobstructed views into your garage can show the world your personal property which may include items of interest. Sometimes innocuous items may telegraph more valuable items which may be in your home.
These views can show the world what types of vehicles you own AND when you are not home. These can lead to your property being a potential theft target.
We recommend any glass garage doors be obscured glass, not the clear glass, and all windows should have window coverings on them. This will help mitigate potential targeting of your home and family from those who are seeking opportunities to create mischief.
If you have high value assets in your home/garage it may be advisable to also consider cameras, motion sensors and enhanced alarm components.
When you build or design a Luxury Home personal and property security is a conversation you should have with your Builder. If your Builder is not asking these questions, he or she may not have the resources or knowledge to provide options for your family.
We welcome having converations about creating beautiful homes AND providing security and safety for the families who live in them.
